Born in January 1976 in Sri Lanka into a devout Buddhist couple of Mr. Abeysinghe Wijekoon and Mrs. Chandra Kumarihami Dissanayake of Werapitiya, our Venerable Chief Incumbent got ordained on October 11, 1988 at Sri Sumanarama Purana Vihara, Udammita, Veyangoda, Sri Lanka, under the tutelage of Most Venerable Kariyagama Gunananda Nayake Mahathera.
He received Upasampadā (Full Ordination) from the Supreme Sangha of the Malwatta Sangha Council of the Sri Lanka Siam Fraternity (Nikāya) on March 25, 1998 at Malwathu Maha Vihara in Kandy.
He received his primary and secondary education at Werapitiya Kanishtha Vidyalaya (Junior School), Dunhinna Maha Vidyalaya (High School), Werapitiya, Kandy, and Sadananda Maha Pirivena (Senior Monastic College), Udugampola, respectively.
He earned his BA Honors degree in Pali and MA in Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
